Your First Cold Plunge in Wenatchee: What to Expect, How Long, and What It Costs
Thinking about your first cold plunge in Wenatchee? Good call. Cold water immersion has gone from something only pro athletes and polar-bear-swim diehards did to a regular part of how a lot of people in the valley recover from ski days at Mission Ridge, long climbs up Saddle Rock, and laps in the Sage Hills. If you've never done it before, though, it's normal to have questions. How cold is it going to feel? How long should you stay in? What should you bring? And what does it actually cost?
This guide walks you through exactly what to expect at Regen + Wellness, our social performance wellness club at 105 South Mission St in downtown Wenatchee, so your first plunge feels exciting instead of intimidating.
What Is a Cold Plunge?
A cold plunge is a tub of chilled water you sit in, usually up to your chest or shoulders, for a short, controlled amount of time. It's the modern, more comfortable version of the classic ice bath: no bags of ice, no guessing, just cold water kept ready for you.
People use cold plunges for a lot of reasons. Many athletes like how they feel after a hard training day. Others love the sharp, wide-awake mental reset, especially on a gray Wenatchee winter morning. And plenty of members simply enjoy the challenge of doing something hard and walking out feeling great. Research on cold water immersion is still growing, so we keep it simple: most people find it refreshing, energizing, and a satisfying part of a recovery routine.
What to Expect at Your First Cold Plunge in Wenatchee
Before you get in
When you arrive at Regen + Wellness, check in at the front and let our team know it's your first time. We'll show you around the recovery space, point you to the changing area, and answer any questions. Most people plunge in a swimsuit. Bring a towel if you like, plus a warm layer and dry clothes for afterward.
Take a minute to settle in. If you're pairing your plunge with other services, like compression or our infrared sauna, ask how to sequence them. There's no single right order, and we're happy to help you figure out what feels best for you.
The first 30 seconds
Here's the honest truth: the first few seconds are the hardest part. Your breath will want to speed up and your body will tell you to get out. That's the moment to focus on slow, steady breathing. Long exhales help a lot. Lower yourself in calmly instead of jumping, keep your hands relaxed, and remind yourself the initial shock passes quickly.
Settling in
After that first wave, most people notice the cold becomes more manageable. Your breathing evens out, your mind gets quiet, and you start to feel that clear, focused sensation people talk about. This is where a lot of first-timers surprise themselves.
Getting out and warming up
Step out slowly, dry off, and warm up naturally. Light movement, a warm layer, and a coffee or tea in our cacao lounge are all great options. Many people like to finish with time in the infrared sauna, alternating hot and cold. That combination is often called contrast therapy, and it's one of the most popular routines at the club.
How Long Should Your First Cold Plunge Be?
Shorter than you think. For a first plunge, there's no prize for toughing it out. Many beginners start with somewhere around one to three minutes, and some start with just 30 seconds. The goal on day one is to get comfortable with the experience and learn how your body responds, not to set a record.
Start short. End your first plunge while you still feel in control, not when you're desperate to get out.
Build gradually. Add a little time over future visits as it starts to feel familiar.
Listen to your body. If you feel dizzy, numb, or unwell, get out and warm up.
Keep breathing. Slow, controlled breathing is the single most helpful thing you can do.
Day passes that include the cold plunge include a 15-minute communal plunge session, which gives you plenty of time to get in, get out, warm up, and maybe go again if you feel good. You don't need to stay in the water for the whole window.
What Does a Cold Plunge Cost at Regen + Wellness?
Cold plunge access is included in several of our day passes, so you can try it as part of a full recovery visit rather than as a one-off. Here's how the options that include the plunge stack up:
Basic Plus, $69: Everything in the Basic pass (gym, 30-minute compression, 15-minute standing red light, whole body vibration, and massage gun) plus a 15-minute communal cold plunge, the coffee and tea lounge, a 15-minute massage chair, a 15-minute Woojer vibroacoustic sound bed, and 10 minutes of Halo salt therapy.
Supercharged, $99: Adds a 40-minute communal infrared sauna and 10 minutes of ozone therapy. This is a great pick if you want to try hot and cold contrast on your first visit.
Supercharged Privacy Relief, $199: Gives you the choice of a communal or private plunge and sauna, and adds a B12 shot. Ideal if you'd rather have your first plunge one-on-one.
Higher tiers: Ultimate Pain Relief ($279), Superhuman ($349), and Royal Unrestricted ($449) layer in services like infrared laser, PEMF, vitamin shots, the hot tub, steam sauna, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The entry-level Basic pass ($39) does not include the cold plunge, so if plunging is your main goal, Basic Plus is the place to start. You can see more about each service on our services page.
What about memberships?
If you think cold plunging could become a habit, a membership is usually the better value for regular visits, and it makes it easy to plunge on your schedule all season long. Membership details aren't published online. Stop by the club at 105 South Mission St or call us at 509-888-2918 and we'll walk you through the options and help you choose what fits your routine.
Who Should Check With a Doctor First?
Cold water immersion is a real stress on the body, so it isn't right for everyone. If you're pregnant, have a heart condition, high blood pressure, circulation issues, Raynaud's, or any other ongoing health concern, talk with your healthcare provider before you plunge. When in doubt, ask first. Our team is happy to answer questions about how the plunge works, but we can't give medical advice.
Tips for Making Your First Plunge a Great One
Eat something light and stay hydrated before your visit.
Don't plunge alone in your head. Tell our team it's your first time so we can help you get set up.
Bring a friend. It's a social club for a reason, and plunging with someone makes it more fun. Teammates, ski buddies, and running groups regularly come in together.
Pair it with heat. The infrared sauna on the Supercharged pass is the classic partner to cold water.
Plan a little extra time to relax in the cacao coffee lounge afterward.
Why Wenatchee Loves Cold Plunging
North Central Washington is an outdoor town. Between powder days at Mission Ridge, hiking the Enchantments, mountain biking the foothills, trail running, and summer days on the Columbia, people here put their bodies to work. Having a dedicated place downtown to plunge, sweat, and reset makes it easier to keep doing the things you love. Visitors heading to Leavenworth or Lake Chelan stop in too, and a day pass is an easy way to add a recovery stop to a weekend trip.
