If you love the feeling of warm, humid air wrapping around you, the steam sauna is for you. It's a very different experience from our infrared sauna, and many members at Regen + Wellness, our social performance wellness club at 105 South Mission St in downtown Wenatchee, swear by it, especially in the dry, cold months of a North Central Washington winter.

What Is a Steam Sauna?

A steam sauna, often called a steam room, fills an enclosed space with warm water vapor. The temperature is usually lower than a traditional dry sauna, but the high humidity makes it feel very warm, because sweat doesn't evaporate as quickly. The result is a soft, enveloping heat.

Steam bathing goes back centuries, from Turkish hammams to Russian banyas. Today, people enjoy steam for the same reasons they always have: it's relaxing, it feels cleansing, and it's a great place to slow down.

Steam Sauna vs. Infrared Sauna

  • Steam sauna: moist, humid heat. Many people love how it feels on the skin and how easy it is to take slow, deep breaths in warm air.

  • Infrared sauna: dry, radiant warmth that heats your body more directly. Read our infrared sauna guide.

There's no wrong choice. Some members alternate, and others pick based on the season or their mood.

Why Wenatchee Locals Love Steam

Our valley is dry for much of the year, and winters are cold. After a day skiing Mission Ridge, snowshoeing near Leavenworth, or running the Apple Capital Loop on a frosty morning, warm humid air feels amazing. Members tell us they use steam to:

  • Warm up quickly after time outside in the cold.

  • Relax tight muscles after training or a long week.

  • Enjoy a quiet break with slow, easy breathing.

  • Feel refreshed before heading back out.

We don't make medical claims about steam. Most people simply find it soothing and enjoyable.

What to Expect at Your First Steam Session

Before you go in

Wear a swimsuit, bring a towel, and drink water. Take off jewelry, and leave your phone outside since humidity isn't good for electronics.

Inside the steam room

Sit and breathe slowly. Visibility may be soft because of the steam. Most people find several minutes to start is plenty. Step out any time you feel too hot or light-headed.

After your session

Cool down gradually, rinse off, and rehydrate. Many people follow steam with a short cold plunge or a soak in the hot tub.

Which Day Pass Includes the Steam Sauna?

The steam sauna is included in some of our higher-tier day passes. Our higher tiers, Ultimate Pain Relief ($279), Superhuman ($349), and Royal Unrestricted ($449), layer in services such as infrared laser, PEMF, vitamin shots, the hot tub, steam sauna, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Inclusions vary by pass, so call 509-888-2918 or ask at the front desk to confirm which pass includes the service you want.

For reference, here's what our day passes include at the entry levels: Basic ($39) covers the gym, 30 minutes of compression, 15 minutes of standing red light, whole body vibration, and a massage gun. Basic Plus ($69) adds a 15-minute communal cold plunge, the coffee and tea lounge, a 15-minute massage chair, a 15-minute Woojer vibroacoustic sound bed, and 10 minutes of Halo salt therapy. Supercharged ($99) adds a 40-minute communal infrared sauna and 10 minutes of ozone therapy. Supercharged Privacy Relief ($199) lets you choose a communal or private plunge and sauna and adds a B12 shot.

If steam becomes part of your regular routine, ask about memberships. Membership details and pricing aren't published online. Stop by the club at 105 South Mission St or call 509-888-2918 and our team will walk you through the options and help you pick what fits your routine.

Who Should Check With a Doctor First?

Heat and humidity aren't right for everyone. If you're pregnant, have a heart condition, blood pressure concerns, a respiratory condition, take medications that affect heat tolerance, or have any ongoing health concern, talk with your doctor before using a steam sauna. Skip it if you've had alcohol or feel unwell.

Steam Sauna Etiquette

  • Rinse off before entering.

  • Keep conversations relaxed. It's a social club, but steam is a calm space.

  • Sit on a towel.

  • Hydrate before and after.
